Fence painting in Clyde North

About fence painting

In Clyde North's estates, the fence is the wall of the outdoor room — visible from the alfresco, the living areas and every listing photo. Faded, greyed boundaries undercut otherwise immaculate homes, and a refinish flips the picture.

We paint and stain fences across the suburb, from standard paling boundaries to front fencing and feature runs. The free on-site quote walks the line, and the written scope itemises every run, gate and post.

What the job involves

Boundaries that finish the backyard

Estate fences are seen up close, so the standard is close-range evenness: no thin patches, no missed edges, clean lines at capping and gates. That comes from preparation — washing out grime, sanding rough timber, priming bare spots — and consistent application along the whole run.

Colour is the other lever. Tying the fence to the render, alfresco and deck palette makes the outdoor space feel designed; a contrasting tone can also define garden zones. We bring options to the quote and can patch-test before committing.

Every fence surface is different

Weathered timber palings, previously painted fences, stained timber and metal fencing each need a different preparation path. Greyed timber is cleaned and sanded so coatings can grip; failing paint is scraped back to sound edges; metal is washed, de-rusted where needed and primed with a compatible product.

Posts, rails, gates and capping are part of the job, not extras. A fence is only as tidy as its framework, so the scope covers the whole structure — and if a paling or post is beyond a recoat, we tell you at the quote rather than painting over it.

Boundaries and access

Fences sit on boundaries, which brings practical questions: which side are we painting, is there access along the line, and are there neighbours, retaining walls, gardens or pools to work around? We walk the fence line during the quote and plan the access before starting.

Where a fence is shared, most owners organise their own side. We're happy to quote one side or both, and to keep the scope clear about exactly which line and which faces are included.

Choosing the finish

Colour and opacity set the tone of the whole yard. A solid colour hides weathering completely and pairs with the house palette; a semi-transparent stain lets the grain show and weathers more gently. Lighter colours can make a small garden feel bigger, while dark tones make greenery stand out.

Exposure matters too — fences in full sun, under sprinklers or beside pools need finishes chosen for those conditions. We talk through options at the quote and name the finish in your written scope.

Local knowledge

Open blocks, windswept boundaries

Clyde North's open, windswept positions mean boundary fences take full weather. UV-rated finishes and well-sealed posts and end grain are the practical response, along with honest maintenance intervals rather than optimistic promises.

Shared boundaries come up often in estates — most owners organise their own side. We keep the scope explicit about which faces are included, so what was quoted is exactly what gets painted.
